AzCSE Annual Meeting
February 28, 2021
Despite the many challenges, obstacles, changes and unknowns that 2020 brought, AzCSE continued to promote, represent, and share Azerbaijani culture, made best efforts to make adjustments to its programs & events and serve & support the community. AzCSE welcomed everyone to its in-person programs and events, brought individuals, families, community together on several occasions in the first quarter of 2020 before the pandemic hit. AzCSE made a hard decision to cancel its biggest and much-loved event, Novruz Bayramı Celebration, in mid-March due to pandemic despite all the hard work and months long preparations. AzCSE participated at the Virtual Heritage Festival showcasing Azerbaijani culture to Edmontonians and the world on the virtual festival platform, celebrated 102nd anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918-20), held Memorial Gathering Event to honour victims of Ganja, Barda, Tartar city attacks on peaceful civilians, among them many innocent kids. AzCSE advocated for peace, fought against injustice, false, biased & unfair media and political propaganda during the second Karabakh war. AzCSE demanded justice for more than 750,000 internally displaced Azerbaijanis who were expelled from their ancestral lands by the occupying Armenian armed forces, more than 750,000 IDPs who lost everything & whose livelihoods, belongings, homes, and even family members taken away from them and still unable to return to their homes after three decades.
AzCSE annual meetings offer a great opportunity to sit down and discuss what we have accomplished as a community and what could be improved and time to set plans for the year ahead. This year, AzCSE annual meeting will be held online on Sunday February 28, 2021 due to Covid restrictions. We encourage all AzCSE members to attend the meeting. Please express your interest to attend by replying to this email and we will send you the meeting invitation link. The next board will be also elected in the annual meeting. This is certainly a great opportunity for you to become an AzCSE board member, volunteer your time and energy in helping your community to grow and flourish.
If you are a gold member of AzCSE (you have volunteered for AzCSE for at least 50 hours over the past two years), and submitted your most current year membership fee, then according to the AzCSE Bylaw, you can nominate yourself to become a board member.

Please note that the receipt of your nomination form will be acknowledged by 11:00pm February 27, 2021. Please follow up with us in case of not receiving a confirmation from AzCSE.
