The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in partnership with the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF), introduces the 2022 Academy Film Accelerator, a five-week program that will provide filmmakers from Latinx communities with education, resources and mentorship focused on the business of filmmaking. The film, starring Andy Garcia, Gloria Estefan, Adria Arjona, Isabela Merced, Diego Boneta and Chloe Fineman, tells the story of a father coming to grips with his daughters upcoming wedding, through the prism of multiple relationships within a sprawling Cuban American family. The film follows Doris Muoz and Jacks Haupt, two daughters of undocumented parents from Mexico, navigating their careers in the music industry. MiraCosta holds a special place for the Latino community, offering the Puente Project and the Office of Advancement, with several scholarships and grants to support students and help them overcome financial barriers to higher education.
