Due to the increased Covid cases the family has decided to have a private service for Linda Griggs Mitchell. Pastor William Griggs will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Linda will be open for viewing from 12:00pm until 5:00pm on Friday at Norton Funeral Home.
Linda went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, September 29, 2021 while at McLeod RMC. She was born in Hartsville, SC the daughter of the late Bobby and Ellen Teal Griggs. She was a member of Piney Plains Freewill Baptist Church. She loved shopping, fishing and going on golf cart rides. She loved her family unconditionally.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Theresa (Ricky) Walters, Hartsville, Robert (Tina) Mitchell, Wallace, Angel (Bobby) Byrd; brother, Randall (Gale) Griggs, Chesterfield; sister, Nioka Jones, Hartsville; grandchildren, Bobby Walters, Tyler (Alyssa Atkerson) Byrd, Coby Byrd, Layson Mitchell; brother-in-law, Johnnie Johnson; and daughter-at-heart, April Sherrill.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Mitchell, sister, Deanne Johnson, infants sisters, Bobbie Lou Griggs, Leona Griggs; brothers, Laverne Griggs, Eugene Griggs; brother-in-law, Ethel Jones.

One of his greatest pleasures in life was serving the Lord at Forest Hills Independent Baptist Church, formerly John Wesley Independent Methodist Church. He spent many hours repairing and servicing buses for the church’s bus ministry, which brought many children to the Lord, some who still serve today. He was also instrumental in the yearly bar-b-que fundraiser. He served more than 25 years as a steward and trustee of the church, as well as a member of the John Wesley School board.
